A lot of my thinking and exploration on this topic is influenced by my knowledge about colonialism and slavery. Learning about our past has not proven to be an antidote to being doomed to repeat it. In many ways, the systems put in place during colonization haven’t changed. They were created to support one group of people at the detriment of another.
