You will be working as engineers to design, market, and pitch a new sneaker design. To design the best sneaker possible, you will need to research the structure and function of different shoes. It will be important to understand the structure of your feet as well as to research the various functions a shoe provides for different activities.
2
Work through your research and brainstorming packet in class.

CHOOSE
form-driven
You may choose to design sneakers that are form over function. This means that the way they look is more important than the way they function.
If you choose this route, please choose a theme to create your shoes around.

function- driven
Choosing function over form means that how they perform take priority over how they look.
The fun thing about having function take priority is it is pretty easy to allow the form to play an important role too.
3
Sketch your sneaker design.
Sketch ideas for your sneaker design.
Consider your research.
Be intentional with your design based on your:
• function
• intended audience
You may choose to create a design that is easily marketed to a mass audience or one more for a niche audience.
4
Create your final mock-up
Create your final product board.
You must include:
-
Main drawing: side view of your design
-
1-2 Drawings of different angles of your design.
Include a drop shadow to make your product appear like it is sitting on a surface.
3. At least 3 labels, describing the most important parts of the design.
4. At least 3 material "swatches" of the materials you would use in this shoe if it were to be manufactured and label them.
5. A title for your design, what company/client this product was designed for. (ex: Title: Pacific Wave, Company: Nike)
